Bwindi is home to half the world’s gorilla population, with over 350 individuals living here. Your ranger will lead you on a remarkable walking safari, deep into the steaming landscape to observe these fascinating creature in thier natural habitat, an encounter both exciting and profound. In addition to the mountain gorillas, Bwindi is a hotbed of biodiversity, with many other primate species and 79 mammal species to be found here.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Entebbe
When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport you will be collected from the airport and transferred to your hotel in the city. The former seat of Uganda’s government, Entebbe just a short drive from the current capital and offers plenty to keep visitors amused. Tourists can while away days on the beaches along the banks of Lake Victoria, stroll around the fields and forests of the Botanical Gardens, or pay a visit to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a haven for country’s remaining chimps.
This evening we'll gather for a short orientation at the hotel, then you're free for dinner.
Day 2 - Bwindi Impenetrable Park
This morning you'll have an early breakfast, then get transferred to the airport for your flight to Kihihi Airstrip near Bwindi where you'll be picked up and transferred to your mountain lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, about an hour away. The rest of the day is about relaxing and preparing for the big day tomorrow. At some point today you'll have another orientation and seminar from the rangers about the trek for tomoorow, and how to interact safely and responsibly with the gorillas.
Day 3 - Gorillas!
You'll get a very early start this morning so you can enter the forest at dawn and enjoy the beauty and freshness of the jungle, home to more than half of the world’s mountain gorillas. After a short briefing by the guides, proceed through the dense bush for the trek to view these magnificent, endangered animals. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is where you have the best chance of spotting a mountain gorilla family going about their business. Once you have your permit you are led across the rugged terrain and though the awe inspiring jungle to where the gorillas were seen yesterday and then you track them down. Aside from the amazing gorilla interactions there are numerous forest walks and 346 species of birds to track down, many of which are amazingly coloured.
Day 4 - Entebbe
After breakfast this morning you'll leave the Bwindi Forest for the hour long drive to Kihihi Airstrip. Your flight will depart around mid-morning, arriving in Entebbe around noon. Your Gorilla Experience tour will end upon arrival at Entebbe airport. Here you can catch your next flight for Kilimanjaro International Airport and the start of your exciting East African Safari adventure!

Bwindi - Mahogany Springs Lodge : Mahogany Springs is situated in one of the most intimate, secluded, beautiful and most importantly natural settings in the world. Every room bears the name of English Royals both past and present. All the rooms at Mahogany Springs are suites. The superior suites can be twin, double or triple. These suites are spacious with large double doors and beautiful windows. There are power points in the rooms as well as a dressing table/desk. For added comfort and peace of mind all the suites have an advanced mosquito net system that wraps around the entire area of the beds. - Due to the remote nature of safari travel, Travel and Evacuation insurance is required for travel to Africa. Our office will email a quote to you when your initial deposit is processed.
- Visa fees, if necessary. A visa ($100) is required for U.S. visitors to Uganda. It’s a fairly simple procedure, done at the airport upon arrival, or online in advance.
- Gorilla Permit, current fee is $800 per person, (subject to change). These are not included in the tour price, but will be billed seperately.
